Dioxin

Dioxins are environmentally persistent compounds that find their way into the food chain. They have been linked to chronic diseases such as cancer and are believed to be a cause of birth defects. Dioxins are produced during the incineration of wastes and are a contaminant in a chemical manufacturing process. Dioxin is also a by product of older chlorine pulp bleaching technologies.
