The USGBCi GreenBuild 2010, the largest green building trade show and conference has come to a completion for this year and has set a new attendance record with over 30,000 people coming into the McCormick Place in Chicago.
The Panel Source / McKillican Booth was Situated right at the entrance to the wood pavilion and had architects, designers, woodworkers, general contractors from throughout North America gathering under our banner to see our offering of Sustainable wood products.
Our availability of FSCi softwood lumber and construction gradei plywoods was very popular as well as the line of PureKori Panels which we source to give the architect and designer the ability to pick what green attributes they need in a board.
Speaking with Shaun Wright, a architect out of the Chicago area he commented “for me to have such a choice of green products all under the name of PureKor really simplifies things for me, now I pick what my green attributes that are needed for the job , I can upgrade performance with Moisture Resistance and Fire rated and even decorative surface if I want and I spec it as PureKor. With the PureKor certification I know I will have certification and documentation to meet our LEED submittals, which in a laid up panel has always been a challenge.”
Designers were also attracted to our Bamboo, Wheat and Sunflower boards and many left with new creative ways to use panels as a decorative surface on their own, letting the industrial beauty of the unfinished boards shine through.
Next Year the USGBC GreenBuild Show Moves to Toronto Canada, October 4-7, the first show outside of the U.S.A. Panel Source and McKillican have already secured a great spot at the entrance to the wood pavilion.
Also, as a reminder to our American attendees, you'll need a passport to get to Toronto. You might as well get started on that now so you'll be well-prepared for the first-ever GreenBuild outside the United States.
